Community activities

The following are some of our community activities, all of which you are welcome to join.

Devotional gatherings

These devotional gatherings include prayers, readings from Sacred Literature, music, and sometimes other offerings such as poetry or art. They are a chance to worship and have fellowship together regardless of spiritual affiliation.

  • Sundays,  10:30 am Devotional meeting. These are held online using Zoom. For information and a link, please call 575-640-0261
  • Saturdays, 3rd Saturday of the month – 9:30 am. These are in-person and include a potluck breakfast. For information call 575-528-8912

Informational Meetings

Introductory meetings, called “firesides”,  are gatherings to discuss all aspects of Baha’i belief. Sometimes meetings are about specific topics, and they are a great time to ask questions and get to know Baha’is in an informal setting.  The meetings are open to the public at no charge. These are currently scheduled on the second Sunday of the month at 2 p.m. For location and more information, please call 575- 556-9650.

Community Building

The programs of the Ruhi Institute provide a pattern for the betterment of our communities. Age-appropriate materials help children, junior youth, youth, and adults to enhance their capacity for service to mankind and to society at large. We have ongoing study groups. If you are interested in joining a study group for any Ruhi Book (1-14) please contact us. Details on the books and content are provided below.

Junior Youth Groups

  • If you are a junior youth wanting to join a junior youth group or if you are a youth who wishes to help facilitate a group, please call 575-640-0261 for information.

Groups of junior youth study material that is focused on spiritual, social, and cultural progress. These studies aim to develop the capacities of youth helping them to make “the critical passage from childhood to adolescence and focus on service to their fellow man.” Some of the books in the series are:

Book 2 – Arising to Serve ( Includes: The Joy of Teaching, Deepening Themes, Introducing Baha’i Beliefs.)

Book 3 – Teaching Children’s Classes, Grade 1 (Includes: Some Principles of Baha’i Education, Lessons for Children’s Classes, Grade 1, Conducting Classes for Children.)

Book 4 – The Twin Manifestations (Includes: The Greatness of this Day, The Life of the Bab, The Life of Baha’u’llah.)

Book 5 – Releasing the Powers of Junior Youth (The three units of Book 5 focus on some concepts, skills, qualities, and attitudes that experience has shown are required by those wishing to implement a program for the spiritual empowerment of junior youth.)

Book 6 – Teaching the Cause  (Includes: The Spiritual Nature of Teaching, The Qualities & Attributes of the Teacher, The Act of Teaching)
